Dr. Michael B. Barbick Florida Oral & Maxillofacial SurgeryDr. Barbick is dual trained in both dentistry and medicine. Originally from Florida, he received his bachelor of science from the University of Central Florida in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. Dr. Barbick then received his dental and medical degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Following medical school he completed a one year internship in General Surgery at Shands Hospital/VA Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Barbick then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Florida. With extensive training in dentistry, medicine, anesthesiology, and surgery, Dr. Barbick is uniquely qualified to treat a broad spectrum of oral and maxillofacial surgical issues for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and senior patients alike.

Due to the broad scope of his training to include surgeries such as TMJ surgery, head and neck surgery, micro-surgical nerve repair and facial jaw reconstruction, he was recruited to the Institute of Oral and Facial Surgery in Saint Louis, Missouri to teach oral surgeons these surgical techniques though an accredited surgical fellowship program based out of Mercy hospital, a level one trauma center and major teaching hospital. During that time, Dr. Barbick was also a part of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Saint Louis University and served as an Adjunct Professor at the Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health. During four years in St. Louis, Dr. Barbick had performed over 200 major hospital surgeries each year to include surgeries such as orthognathic surgery, TMJ surgery, salivary gland surgery, removal of cyst/tumors of the jaws, facial trauma/reconstruction and micro-surgical nerve repair. He also extensively performed dental-alveolar procedures to include, the removal of teeth/wisdom teeth, the placement of dental implants, bone grafting and biopsies of the oral cavity all under local anesthesia or general anesthesia/sedation in his private practice.

After four wonderful years of hospital and private practice in Saint Louis, Missouri, he had the distinguished opportunity to return to Florida and acquire the practice of Florida Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Florida Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Every month he makes time to travel to Gainesville to teach the dental students and oral surgery residents.

Dr. Barbick does an amazing job at making his patients feel as comfortable as possible. They often comment on his friendly and gentle manner and appreciate his ability to get to know everyone. Through his calm and professional demeanor, patients are put at ease knowing that they will be cared for as if they were a family member.
